Training & Certifications

Safe Towing Is at the Top of Our List

Safety is a high priority at Whitey's Towing, Inc. We hold monthly safety meetings where we reinforce practices to keep our drivers and customers safe.

Studies have shown the longer a road hazard exists, the chance of a secondary accident increases at a staggering rate, not to mention the traffic delays and costs associated with such. This is why at Whitey's Towing, we believe in clearing the roadway as quickly and safely as possible.

During our monthly safety meetings, we review our past recoveries as well as recoveries by other companies to brainstorm ways the job could have been done differently to make it safer or quicker. If necessary, we practice these solutions in a controlled area so we can use them confidently during the high-stress environment of a real traffic accident.

Trained and Certified Towing Team Members

There are some excellent associations that offer commercial training programs for tow truck drivers. These classes demonstrate proven methods for safely recovering and transporting disabled vehicles. We believe these classes enforce safe and efficient working within our staff. This is why we encourage our drivers to attend these classes. We currently have drivers that are certified by WreckMaster and the TRAA (Towing and Recovery Association of America).

Some of the biggest concerns Whitey's Towing has concerning the towing and recovery of motor vehicles are the safety of our staff, the safety of police and fire officials on a scene, and the safety of the general motoring public surrounding an accident scene.

Police officials are trained in scene control, including traffic control and crowd management. Fire and rescue officials are trained in fire control and medical treatment of injuries. They go through this training to ensure the safety of the whole scene and everyone involved with it.

It is equally important for the responding tow truck operator to be trained in the safe recovery of any vehicles on the scene. Lack of experience/training can cause an extremely dangerous situation for everyone involved with the scene. Without knowing the safe limitations of their equipment and the attentiveness required, there is a great chance for failure. Whitey's Towing takes all precautions to keep a safe working environment and to make sure every job is handled in a quick but safe manner.

Whitey's Towing is a member of the Professional Towing and Recovery Operators of Illinois (PTROI). PTROI encourages safe and legal towing practices, as well as working to protect the rights of the tow truck driver.

Satisfied Customers From a Dedicated Towing Company

Five Star Icon — Crystal Lake, IL — Whitey's Towing

My truck wouldn't start at work, parked in a garage that had a slope. They sent two guys out just in case they had to push it out of the garage. My truck didn't start, that's why I called for a tow. Tried jumping it the night before and nothing. Before towing it, they tried to jump it and boom... it started. Instead of assuming they would have to tow it, they tried what they could before towing. They both were very kind, on time, and so nice!! Thank you so much!
